Magic Mushroom Sampler Kit: Six Strain Tasting Flight

The Magic Mushroom Sampler Kit is the dried-mushroom equivalent of a wine flight or scotch tasting. Six different strains of Psilocybe cubensis, 1 gram of each, individually packed and labelled. The point isn’t to take them all in one weekend. The point is to try each strain in similar settings, notice which ones suit your body and headspace, then come back and order more of the strain that worked.

Each strain comes individually packed in a small clear bag, clearly labelled. The default contents are Golden Teacher, Penis Envy, Big Mex, Psilocybe Aztecorum, Treasure Coast, and Brazilian. How to actually compare strains

The reason most strain comparisons are useless is that people change too many variables at once. Different setting, different time of day, different mood, different food in their stomach. The result is that the strain seems to be the only thing changing, but really everything is. Three rules to make this kit work:

Rule one: keep the setting the same. Same room, same lighting, same music or no music. If you can, take each strain in the same chair. The point of consistency is so that any difference you notice can be attributed to the strain rather than the environment.

Rule two: keep the time of day the same. Morning vs evening vs late night produces meaningfully different mushroom experiences. Pick one window, ideally a 4 to 6 hour stretch where you have nothing to do, and use the same window for all six trips.

How to actually take 1 gram of dried mushrooms

The basic rules apply to every gram in this kit:

• Take on a relatively empty stomach. Light meal an hour or two before is fine. A heavy meal will dampen and delay the come-up.
• Onset is typically 30 to 60 minutes. Don’t redose at minute 45 because “nothing’s happening.”
• Hydrate. Have water nearby. Set your space up before you take them.
• Pick a setting you trust. Home is best, especially for unfamiliar strains.
• Have a trip sitter for the Penis Envy gram if it’s your first time with that strain.
• Avoid mixing with alcohol, recreational drugs, or prescription medication. Especially not SSRIs without a conversation with your prescriber.
• Plan to be free of obligations for the rest of the day and the next morning.

This is a smart move worth highlighting. Half a gram of any of these strains is a meaningful but lighter experience: more like a focused, social, slightly euphoric afternoon than a full trip. If you’re comparing strains and want to do all six within a couple of weeks, cutting each gram in half lets you pace yourself and run the comparison faster. You sacrifice a bit of the full-strain feel, but you get more data points.

The strains where we’d recommend NOT cutting in half: Penis Envy (because half a gram of PE is genuinely a real dose, not a microdose) and Aztecorum (because the ceremonial feel only emerges at full dose).

Cool, dry, dark. Each gram comes individually sealed and you can leave them sealed until you’re ready to use that strain. Most customers finish the kit in 4 to 8 weeks at one strain per week or two, well within the freshness window.

Common questions about the Sampler Kit

Is this kit good for first-time users?

No. The kit assumes you’ve taken a full dose of mushrooms at least once before and want to compare strains. If you’ve never taken mushrooms, our First Timer Kit is the better starting point. It samples four formats (dried, chocolate, tea, microdose) rather than six different strains, and includes only 2g of Golden Teacher (the gentlest strain) instead of stronger options like Penis Envy.

How long does it take to work through all six strains?

Why does the contents lineup change sometimes?

Stock levels. The default lineup is Golden Teacher, Penis Envy, Big Mex, Psilocybe Aztecorum, Treasure Coast, and Brazilian, but if any of those are temporarily low we substitute another comparable strain (Hillbilly, Amazonian, Blue Meanie, Vader, A+, etc.) to keep your kit at six strains and 6g total. Reviewers don’t seem to mind the variation; many regulars order the kit multiple times specifically to taste different rotations.

Can two people share this kit?

Sort of. 1 gram is a single-person dose. Two people sharing means each person gets 0.5g of each strain, which is more of a microdose-and-a-half than a full strain comparison. Better to order two kits if two people want to do the comparison together, or to share each gram between two people on the same day so the variables are at least controlled.

Why is 1 gram not enough for a full trip on Penis Envy?

1 gram of Penis Envy is a full trip for most people. It’s actually closer to 1.5 to 2 grams of Golden Teacher in intensity. Most users describe 1g of PE as a moderate to strong trip with closed-eye visuals and a longer-than-average duration. Take it seriously when you reach for the PE pack.
